My family adopted a rescue dog with a lot of behavioral issues—in truth Rudy was quite a challenge and disruption in our home, so we decided to try basic obedience class. Colleen and her staff at Canine Academy helped us so much, and Rudy’s behavior has improved dramatically. Her methods (with a lot of reinforcement at home) have worked remarkably. Rudy not only has calmed down and become far less destructive and wild, he is also very focused on learning and behaving as a nice member of our family. He pays attention to commands, and even walks nicely on the bike path now (which was a complete disaster before). Colleen also provided a lot of personalized attention and advice, even though it was a group course. Every step of the way, questions were answered and support was given—every dog in the class was treated as an individual with individual needs. Rudy’s not perfectly behaved yet, but he has truly turned the corner to becoming a polite, well-mannered dog. Friends and family are very impressed with the change in him when they visit now. I can’t thank Colleen and Canine Academy enough!

Alex is absolutely amazing!  I traveled to the Buffalo area to test my Golden for TDI.  We had all the but his behavior was awful.  He wanted to lunge and pull toward the other dogs.  This had been an ongoing problem and as we took classes I asked for help often and was told "he's young; it's just his age".  It was frustrating and hurting my arm being pulled.  Alex pointed out that while he was obedient and smart, he was not well behaved.  That was a real light bulb moment - she was right.  We had learned lots of skills and tricks but not behavior.  I was certainly impressed with her and scheduled a private lesson.  We traveled over 3 hours to meet with her and it was worth every mile and every minute.  After one lesson, he was probably 80% better or more.  I told her that my goal was to be able to walk him through the park during the Farmer's Market and not be pulled.  We went back to see her the very next week much improved and in a matter of 8 days from our first visit I was able to walk through the park with one hand on his leash and without being pulled.  Amazing!  Thanks so much to Alex and Canine Academy from both of us!  We are both enjoying the benefits of good behavior.

Dear Colleen, Barb and Alex,

I want to thank you all for the great classes Goldie and I have attended. Colleen you said the first time you met her that she would be a good therapy dog and she is doing super. We go to the Genesee City N.H. 2 days a week and she loves it and they love her! I wasn't sure how she would be on the elevator, but she had no problems. We get as much joy out of our visits as they do. Thank you all so much!

We've taken our Shelby to canine academy since we got her a year ago. We started with basic obedience. Barb and Colleen really know what they are doing!! We continued to used the doggie day care. Shelby LOVES coming here every week and gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot! I can't recommend them enough! We can't wait to start bringing our newest addition to the family to Canine Academy!

My Baron von Mutsky went to his obedience classes with Canine Academy when they first started and he was THE BEST behaved dog ever!!!! Until the day I lost him (and even on that day), I constantly got compliments about what a well-behaved dog he was, especially for one his size. He didn't bark like crazy when waiting in the car for me, strangers coming to the house were (appropriately) wary of him, but soon found he was nothing but a loveable character. He attended day care one day a week for over 12 years and loved every minute of it - when we would turn a certain corner, he would know he was going to Canine Academy and would get all excited in the car. I often took him to see people in a nursing home and people were amazed at his calm, obedient behavior. Once, I took him to a plant sale in a park and asked my sister to watch him while I got us some hot dogs. He started to bark when I walked away, but I just looked at him, motioned with my hand to "lie down", and he immediately stopped and lay down on the ground. Other people there saw him do that and said, "Wow, have you got a well-trained dog!" I totally agreed and told them he was trained by Canine Academy. THANK YOU for helping me have the BEST dog in the world!!!!!!!

Ellie has done puppy school, puppy agility, basic obedience and day care. When she started puppy school she was very timid and afraid so we started her at day care to socialize (which she loves). We are very impressed with Canine Academy's classes, day care and people. Couldn't be happier!

Just a note to say “thanks” for teaching me some techniques to work with Maggie.  Your commands have worked wonders.  It really is amazing to see the progress made in 8 weeks.  I will continue to recommend “Canine Academy” for a job well done.
